Abstract:As America marks 250 years since 1776, this Muharram we revisit the American experiment through the lens of Karbala. Though separated by centuries and continents, 1776 and Karbala each confront the same enduring questions: What does it mean to be free? What is the price of liberty? And what does moral courage demand in moments of crisis? Through the life and stand of Imam Husayn, this series explores what freedom asks of us in an age of power, comfort, and distraction.
