Russia and Iran developed a closer strategic relationship during recent wars and geopolitical tensions. Both countries cooperated in military technology, energy trade, intelligence sharing, and diplomacy, mainly because they faced Western sanctions and opposed U.S. influence. Iran reportedly supplied drones and military equipment that supported Russia in the Ukraine conflict, while Russia provided diplomatic backing and some technological assistance to Iran. However, their partnership is based more on mutual interests than complete trust. Historical mistrust and different regional ambitions still create limits in their alliance. Despite this, both nations continue strengthening economic and military cooperation to challenge Western pressure and expand their influence in Eurasia and the Middle East.
