According to information received by the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC), approximately 186 people detained during the January 8 and 9 protests are being held in Ward 7 of Quchan Prison. The prison has limited capacity, and detainees are not separated according to the nature of their alleged offenses or legal status. Individuals accused of violent crimes, drug-related offenses, and other crimes are reportedly held alongside protest detainees.Ward 7 contains only two rooms and 165 beds, several of which are unusable. Other prisoners are also held in the same ward, forcing many detainees to sleep on the floor. Sources report that some prisoners rent their beds to others in exchange for money and that detainees are not permitted to sleep or rest until the end of administrative hours.Hot water is available only two days a week, and the limited bathing time is insufficient for the number of prisoners. Detainees are required to purchase cleaning supplies at their own expense. The ward has only four telephones, which are frequently out of service or disconnected.Food is reportedly insufficient and unhygienic, while the cooling system remains switched off for much of the day. Flies and bedbugs are widespread, with detainees identifying the bedbug infestation as one of the ward’s most serious problems.@iranhrdc#DigitalBlackoutIran#iran_strikes #iran_human_rights#iranmassacre
