Majid Adineh, who was detained during the nationwide protests in January 2026, was executed on the morning of Sunday, August 23, 2026. Mizan, a news agency affiliated with the Islamic Republic’s judiciary, reported that his death sentence was carried out after being upheld by the Supreme Court. The location of the execution was not disclosed.Adineh was arrested by the Alborz Province IRGC Intelligence Organization in Mohammadshahr, Karaj, on the evening of January 9, amid protests marked by the Islamic Republic’s bloody crackdown and killing of demonstrators. The judiciary claims that a handgun, ammunition, and other equipment were found in his possession. It has also alleged that the weapon attributed to him had been fired on January 8 and 9—an assertion that has not been independently verified.Adineh faced several security-related charges before the Revolutionary Court in Karaj. He was ultimately sentenced to death and the confiscation of all his property on the charge of “carrying out operations on behalf of Israel, the United States, and hostile states and groups against national security and interests.” The judiciary has characterized the January protests as a “coup” and alleged that he had ties to foreign governments and groups. No independent information has been released about the conduct of the trial, Adineh’s access to a lawyer of his choosing, the conditions under which he was interrogated, or how the statements attributed to him were obtained. His execution following such opaque proceedings raises serious concerns about violations of his right to a fair trial and the use of the death penalty against those detained during the January 2026 protests.@iranhrdc#DigitalBlackoutIran#iran_strikes #iran_human_rights#iranmassacre#majid_adineh
